Fifth Grade

Fifth grade is the culminating year for students, many of whom have been at St. James since pre-kindergarten. As the school's “Seniors”, fifth graders enjoy special privileges including a three day, end-of-the-year trip to San Antonio. It includes large and small group instruction to accommodate each student's unique learning style. Hands-on activities and cooperative learning group work further enhance the curriculum and stimulate learning. Special emphasis is placed on higher order thinking skills in all subject areas where students not only learn the “what” but also the “how” and the “why”.
